1993 shuts down when brakes are applied

Post by wildwinger » Thu Jul 29, 2010 2:22 pm

hey guys new wing owner here. just bought a 93 interstate all was fine for first couple rides than was pulling in to a parking lot and it stalled hit button fires right back up ok. next time i take it out 5 minutes in it starts dying everytime i stop what the hell. starts right back up but i noticed that if the brake is applied front or rear starter wont engage. so i determined that i let it sit idle runs perfect than when it gets nice and hot to where the fan kicks on thats when problem starts if it is hot and i apply front or rear brake it kills ignition and blinkers dont flash the blinker indicators on dash are very dim and dont flash. anyone have a clue where to begin? thanks

Check your battery connection. Tighten the bolt on the battery.

Bank angle sensor. They go bad and make the bike cut out.

I hope you found your problem by now as your last post was a long time ago, but with the dim lights I would be checking the charging system. Sounds like just enough power pulled from the system when you hit the brakes to kill the ignition.
