Water Pump, anyone ever rebuild one?

Postby millerized » Sun Feb 07, 2016 4:17 pm

Not sure it's leaking, or whether or not it's coolant dripped down from the timing belt work....
...but, that said...
anyone ever pull one apart to look inside?
I don't plan on filling the system until I get the rest of the hoses delivered, but just asking the/a question.
I'm 'that' kinda guy, and rather than spend $150 for a new water pump, I'd prefer to spend $200 to rebuild one
Anyone else?

I've done several 1100 and 1000 pumps wonder if the 1500 is much different???

Looks very similar just bigger..drive the shaft out then popping the bearings..then find replacements..at a bearing shop take the old ones in with you..Nothing to loose except time if you can't get it to pop open..
HAD LOTS OF GOLDWING 75-83
NOW INTO 1500'S..RIDING A 1998 SE

FAIR WINDS,
RB
