88 1500

Postby DeepSea3971 » Mon Feb 15, 2016 9:40 pm

I have an '88 1500. I have upgraded the CCM & ECM to get rid of the lag. I can't seem to find a 55 slowjet. 50, 60, 65 I can find but a 55, I can't seem to locate. Any help would be appreciated. Or do I need to replace the OEM. What would happen if I just left it as is. I guessing it would run leaner. Again, any help would be appreciated.

leaving it OEM will keep the fuel restricted to the slow speed circuit...The problem you currently have. Not quite enough fuel at first throttle up.
I had the same trouble..I opted to solve it this way...http://www.xs11.com/xs11-info/tech-tips ... -size.html.

Obviously it did increase the fuel at low speed and idle..I did have to readjust the idle mix screws a bit tighter to compensate.
I upped mine to a #60....almost just a tad too much, had to squeeze the idle mix screws to about 3/4 turn out..It's a bit rich above a idle but I'd rather that than too lean and fuel starved...
Be precise about the size for your application and elevation.
By the way, scrutinize the accelerator pump...Be absolutely sure its working properly

There were two upgrades to the 1988 1500. Honda had an upgrade/recall by changing the ECM & CCU along with replacing both of the 50 slowjets with a 55. I have replaced the ECM & the CCU.

Thank you for the replies. I may have to go to a 60 if I can't find a 55.

Codes on both boxes are MT2DD which are the codes for the honda upgrades.

OEM (recommended) jets can be gotten here.

https://www.jetsrus.com/a_jet_kit_stree ... 8-1991.htm

And you will want to do this mod while apart.
