Shim- Front Brake caliper

Post by Keef » Mon Feb 22, 2016 9:41 am

I am working on my front brake caliper. Both of them. After disassembly I noticed that only one caliper had a shim. Only on one side of one caliper.
Can some one tell me, are both calipers supposed to have shims? Two per caliper? How many per side, and if only one which side of the caliper is it supposed to be on?
Still trying to figure out my ticking noise..... Thanks

Interesting, only shows one on the parts breakdown on cms website and to order only one. Looks like the left side but I don't have a 1500 manual, might be in your manual. Maybe a 1500 driver will help you more.

The one shimmed pad will always go to the outboard or non piston side of caliper.

I just rebuilt my solo front caliper, (passenger side if thought of as a car) and hate those shims! I just looked on Partzilla.com and it shows it on both sides. their retail is $3.86.

CycleMax parts. OEM is showing one shim on the right caliper (passenger side). None on the left caliper. Maybe because you only have one caliper......! Thanks for input though...
