Rocker switch in ignition cover?

Postby dovesdrummer » Tue Feb 23, 2016 5:39 pm

I recently found a bike I couldn't pass up. Its a '90 model SE with 46,000 miles. Pearl glacier white. Been garages all its life. Guy wanted $1700 for it, so I couldn't pass it up. Its an addiction. Anyways, there is a switch on the left side of the ignition cover and I have no idea what its for. My 97 doesn't have it. Is this switch common for the 1990 model or is it add on? Thanks for your replies

Is it a switch or a knob?
Some have the fader knob up on the cover.

Could you send us a picture? I have seen switches there before and always thought they where aftermarket possible for the fog light's.

I'll try and upload a pic soon and I'll also check out the fog light thought. Thanks

Want your money back????? Just kidding, nice find. Paid $2500.00 for my 92 Interstate and I thought I got THE DEAL.
Mine has only a knob just below the ignition switch and it is for speaker fader (Front to Rear).

Sounds like an aftermarket add on..pull the cover and see if it's still hooked up to anything.

Definitely an aftermarket add-on from a previous owner. Mine had one there too, and it was connected to...nothing! Just wires that went nowhere.

I removed it and put a momentary switch in there instead that I hooked up to a garage door opener.

I like that idea !

My '94 SE has a rocker switch that was used for some driving lights that it no longer has.
It was a poorly done installation and part of the hole is visible. I've left the switch in place only because it looks better than that big gaping hole.
Its not a nice, neat , clean installation that could ever be mistaken for factory Honda.

Got it figured out guys. Thanks for the responses. As it turns out, the switch is a 3 position rocker and is tied to the cornering lights. 1st position is always on(like fog lights. 2nd position is on with turn signals(like factory setting) and 3rd position cuts power so they don't come on at all. Thanks again

I kinda like that setup. I've got some extra space on the Firecreek panel I'm installing, I just may have to do the same.
