Lower fairng ad-on heat vents

Postby glk17l » Fri Feb 26, 2016 12:03 am

There used to be a company that made ad-on heat vents for the 1500. The units bolted on the lower fairing cowl vent and re-directed the heat to a vent to heat the drive/passenger. It has a lever/flapper that blocked off the air flow from the radiator and directed it to a vent when closed. When opened it flowed hot air normally through the cowl. I remember JC Whitney used to sell them. I called JC and they don't carry them any more and don't know who made them. Does any one remember these and know who manufactured them and if they are still available any where? I tried Ebay, Google search, etc.
Thanks, glk17l.

Is this what you are looking for:

If so, one source is V&P Associates http://www.vpaccessories.com/accessories.htm
The sell for $12.00 a pair.
The unit in the picture is for 1989 through 1997. In 1998 the shark fins changed. They also carry them for the 1998 through 2000.

Thanks for the info, but it is not the one I was looking for. The one I am referring to bolts onto the shark fins and it is formed to look like part of the lower fairing, and sticks out a few inches. I will try to get a photo of one.

Then these must be what you are referring to:

Unfortunately, they have been out of production for many years. The only possibility you have is finding a set that has been removed and is up for sale or auction somewhere. They were made and then painted to color match to the various year GL1500's. So finding a set that will match your particular bike may be a tad on the difficult side. If you can find a set, they will probably run you about $200.

Thanks Mike B. Those are the vents I am talking about. I have a set that were painted to match my 1500. The narrow vertical vents fell apart, and are not repairable. I have been trying other size vents for other products and Hondas, but no luck. I was hoping to find the manufacturer to see if they might be able to help. The only markings on the unit are the manufacturer's codes and time/date stamp, no name. Thanks for the reply.

As far as I know they were called Wing Warmers but I have no idea who manufactured them. Googling the name has gotten my nowhere with them. I did find this however, In Motorcycle Consumer News, there was a write up on Wing Warmers. It was in Product Reports/Innovations Of The
Month section in the July 2000 issue.
