CARB question

Postby tyrevere » Sun Feb 28, 2016 1:39 pm

1988 gl 1500, on the carbs are you able to see the fuel going into the carbs? as in it shooting from the jets... if so I don't see anything but yet it still runs but runs bad.

If you are talking about the two fine jets at the top of the carbs, they are from the accelerator pump and when you twist the throttle quickly- they should give a squirt of fuel into the carb throats, if not they are clogged and need to be cleaned.

I don't think from memory you can see fuel pushing in when looking directly down the throats.

Run some fuel injector cleaner/ seafoam in the carbs direct, might help.

I run SEA FOAM , 1/4 - 1/3 can about once a month in my bike now, at the suggestion of the good folks here. Seems to do a real good job keeping the fuel system happy and only costs about $10.00 for three months worth. :D :D :D
