carb vids

Postby tyrevere » Sun Feb 28, 2016 5:36 pm

here is a few vids of my erratic carb. keep in mind that when your driving it does the same thing at all speeds. the bike was running for 5 minutes and idle was all over the place. any suggestions on fixing this?

first idle way to high in the first two vids, almost sounds like my bike when the choke is on, which actually just squirts extra gas into the carbs, and gives an uneven idle..so your choke mechanism could be stuck open??? Or sticking slides another possibility..try a tank of two of sea foam..might clean out youir carbs a little.

Has the bike been setting for any length of time? If so bad gas or dirty idle jet. Also check for a vacuum leak...
My bike holds a steady rpm when the choke is used...
Enjoy the ride. They are all good, just some better than others.

the idle is actually set to just below 1000 rpm, and it seldom goes there no matter how many times I try to set it.

the bike hasn't been sitting since I ride it all spring / summer , and it runs better with the choke slightly open but in these vids the choke is "off".

these vids are all "idle" and it varies as you can see and surges. and when your riding it, does the same. it started at the beginning of last summer and rides fine at times then it just does the erratic up and down all the time...
it also has a "dead" spot when you give it full throttle it bogs down. so I give it less throttle then it goes full throttle without any problems

I vote sticking slides..sea foam might cure it but a carb rebuild may be in your future. Vacuum leak is also possible. One of the tubes under the carbs leaking at a bend..so carbs out again..either way.
