Reverse problem

Post by wilsonoo » Wed Mar 02, 2016 10:53 am

Hello, I have been following the the site quite a while. I finale have a question, I have 1990 Goldwing 1500 trike, 100,000 miles, it ran fine a week ago, now no reverse, or start. I have no neutral light, no turn over at all or start and placing it in reverse no reverse light, but seem to be in reverse. All lights, stereo and flashers work. I have rocked the bike in gears no help. It does push start. I have checked all fuses, even by the battery. New battery this week. Could it be the reverse resistor or problem with cables. I appreciate any ideas.................thanks

Could be the kick stand sensor. If there is a wire broke or the sensor is stuck or not working would make it do what it's doing. The sensor is at the bolt that attaches the kick stand to frame.
It's not what you buy, it's what you build.

Does the side stand light work? No neutral light means a problem with reverse lever switch or gear sensor switch. If safety system for starting is compromised it will affect reverse operation. Will it start by pulling in the clutch lever? Reverse light will only come on with engine running and in neutral with lever up.
