swapping motors

Postby greenbaypackfan » Mon Mar 07, 2016 1:43 pm

Has anyone ever switched motors on a GL1500? I have recently purchased one with reverse to put on my 1996 Interstate, I have already had the wiring replaced and added cruise. Both engines are out of a 1996 bike. I was wondering if anyone has any tips for me. Then I have to figure out what to do with my old motor.

Andy (LOPEHA) has a 1500i that he had the engine switched to a reverse style engine. He is a member here but doesn't post often. The work was done by (dave0430) who hangs around over at the Goldwingfacts site. You might want to check with them for advice.

I would love to sell my motor, but it does have 532,000 miles on it and no reverse. It still runs good tho.

An engine that runs well, has good compression and doesn't burn oil is still good for a few miles. Treat it right until it burns more oil than gas. Cheers
