needing gold accents

Postby doggie365 » Wed Mar 16, 2016 4:25 pm

I have brought a 1990 1500SE. Would like to put it all back to original. has been left out side in the weather befor I got it and all of the gold accents or covers are fading. Does any one know where I can buy new ones? All I have been able to find are chrome parts.

Are these what you're looking for? The emblems that go on the side covers?

I am looking for all of the trim pieces and accents. This bike was a special edition all deck out in gold. The radio knobs, luggage rack, pieces around the lights, etc.

I am no expert, but I do not recall a "LIMITED EDITION" done up in gold. . . . . I am inclined to believe this was done by a former owner.

I had a friend about 10 yrs ago that worked at a chrome shop, and he redid all his chrome bits in gold, I almost wonder if you got his old bike ?

There is no such thing. First off, it did not come from Honda with a luggage rack (they never made one), and Honda did not ever produce chrome/gold accents for the lights or radio knobs.

So what you're looking at is custom work done by a previous owner.

W.A. does or did any aftermarket suppliers offer gold stuff such as this or will his only option be finding a chrome/gold plater that will redo it for him ?

My 93 has some gold trim pieces that are not stock. Radio knobs and the trim that fits to the lower part of the false tank side cover ?? They are beginning to fade. I have searched for 4 years with no luck. Please let me know if you find any.

I sure will let you know. At least I see I am not the only one looking. I have a friend that paints things for me, says he has a way of redoing them. Might give that a try. Will buy new chrome pieces and do them instead. The bike is a pearl color and the gold sets it off just right.

you could always go to a hobby shop and buy gold leaf. it is actual gold pounded out very thin. you would be able to apply it to any part you wanted to 8-)

Gold leaf is not a bad idea, basically you spray the item with spray glue, lay the leaf on it and then press it done tight with a sponge/feather duster type tool.
Might look better than it originally did....

Doesn't sound like a bad ideal. Would need to practice first. Thanks for the info. I have always been in love with the gold wings every since I was a kid. My brother in law had one when they first came out. All of his friends and him would go riding. Can't afford a new one, but I enjoy bringing them back to life. Thanks again. Bill
