Greetings Fellow Goldwingers,
I am perplexed. Perhaps somebody had some intermittent starting issues out there that could help me out. Three times my bike hasn't started. Trying to restart it, I would get huge backfires in the exhausts. Left me stranded each time. Come back and starts again. The 4 th time, it didn't start it had spark. Put it on the lift and a friend told me to spray some starter fluid into intakes and it started. Tried it three times and each time it started. This leads me to believe that something is amiss. Any ideas ? Mighty obliged. Cheers it is a 93 aspencade

After the starting fluid did it run on its own or die out? If you have spark it needs fuel. Is the fuel filter new. Could be the fuel pump.
It's not what you buy, it's what you build.
