Home made alternative gear brace

Postby Gdgiò » Wed Mar 23, 2016 4:22 pm

Hallo far far friends..
it is springtime and thus time to warm up the 6 cylinders of the beast!
Luckily I finished all the tasks I supposed to do (a long list) but i would like to share with an alternative for the gear support brace.

Reason why i decided to do that is to overcome a small problem that sometimes does not allow to sincronize actual neutral gear with neutral lamp.Sometimes lamp is off but gear is actually neutral . I read yor how to do (great report and solution) but I most like to do it my self....picture will explain all ...Only thing I reegreat is that having better tools ,the resulting look would be much professional.
Main pros comparing the existing one is the brace is shorter so less total backlash at the end.The ball joint is almost aligned with the primary gear shaft's axis so basically no "stress" through the leverages when operated.
Main cons ...actually the look and the no possibility to adjust its lenght to find the alignement with the attachement exagon head screw .

That is a great innovation.
It's not what you buy, it's what you build.

thanks for the apreciations...

of course i did not mean to downclassify the design of wingconsins... it is just great and highly professional ! Not having machining tools,in my shop, I need to find an alternative costructions with my own "garage" tools.

Not my design - I take no credit for it in any way.
I only mentioned it for those who would want to acquire one.
AS a satisfied customer having purchased and installed 3 units I KNOW it works..
I suspect yours does as well -
