Cruise control GL1500 SE

Postby Lavelle » Wed Mar 23, 2016 6:32 pm

Hi folks, I have the 1991 GL 1500SE Model and can't get the cruise control to set above 90kph - 55mph mine is the American built model but was imported to Australia. I have tried all of the fixes like fooling the control system to think it is in 4th when it's actually in 5th and I have checked the vacum pump cable adjuster to make sure the pointer lines up with the mark and it does. All of the control switches seem to be working fine but I cant set the speed above 55mph. If I hold the accel button down it will accellerate fine but will return to 55mph! when I try to set. Very frustrating on some of the long Australian roads. I have heard that if the bike was sold in Japan, they limited the cruise speed ?? I am planning a 8000 kilometer trip soon and would like the cruise to work properly.

If anybody can help, your advise is greatly appreciated.

Also it is a vacuum operated cruise. You could have a vacuum line that is leaking.

And have you checked the cruise control air filter?
