Either one, although the longer one is actually about 3.25". I use the Purolator Pure One, PL14610, with no problems. It's a highly rated filter, of above average media, and more of it in the longer version. The shorter version is a PL14612.

You know it would have been quicker and easier to just Google that instead of posting the same question on multiple forums, right?

Not advocating anything but this site does have some interesting info on motorcycle filters: http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/FilterXRef.html

Ive never used Purolator filters before, but I picked up a few at Wally World last night. $1.50 each on clearance. Both the 14610s and 14612s were on the shelf.
These were labeled P14610, not PL14610. I guess I better look it up and see if theres a difference. Hmm.

The PL is their "Pure One" higher end filter with better media and silicone drain back valve. There is a difference. I would stick with the PL, but there are probably 50 different opinions about that.

Purolator filters at Walmart are being discontinued but on the other hand Supertech filters are coming back.
It's not what you buy, it's what you build.

While doing a search for oil filters for my ' Wing, I discovered a filter made by ???? is labeled "Napa Gold", "CarQuest", and "Wix".
Of course I didn't know they were all the same filter with different labels until the CarQuest guy tol me.
