GL1500SSE radio bulbs

Postby Edd505 » Sat Apr 23, 2016 12:05 pm

I have read the article's about replacing the lights and it looks like two different bulbs are used. Can anyone tell me how many of each bulb type and a source for them. I have two T3 left from doing the handle bar switches but that source is out of T3s. I'm electrically challenged so soldering to make the LEDs is out for me. I did not want to start the radio until I had all the bulbs in hand, couple spares would be good too.

There are a few threads here with posts about changing the radio bulbs.
This one shows how to replace with LEDs. On the second page there are links to suppliers and part numbers.
This one has more information.
More threads here and here.

Thanks for the reply as in the OP I am electrically challenged. In link one post which I had read, I decided I did not have the electrical skills to do the LED mod. It appears to me there are two bulbs with wire leads that have a white connector, like those in the handle bar switch lights, and 5 that screw into the board and match those used in the 1800's. Link two has the original part numbers I'll see if I can get bulbs. I have one of the white connector bulb left after doing the handle bar lights but that source is sold out.

In one of the last two posts (I don't remember which), there is a link to bulbs that already have the resistor attached, so no soldering required.

From how to post step 50

50. You can solder your wires to the connector on the back side of the board as shown here. The wire on the left is ground, the wire on the right is positive. Alternatively, you can splice these wires into the harness that connects to the control lights.
