Cornering lights not working

Postby dand » Sat Apr 23, 2016 5:46 pm

Neither of my cornering lights are working when the signal light is on. I found a burnt bulb in one, but the other bulb is good. There is no power to the light socket. Would both the relays be bad at the same time? Is there a way to check the relays to see if they are defective before buying 2 new ones?

I can't speak for the 98s but my 92 Interstate had no cornering lights. I found that the bulbs were both bad. When I replaced them I found that one relay was defective and the socket on the other side was damaged due to the extreme heat of the light bulb. The PO had them set up tpo bo on constantly. The sockets are not capable of handling that much heat. I will be replacing the bubs with LEDs next. I swapped the relays and now have cornering light on the left side and am looking for a new relay and parts to repair the right side.

His bike is an Aspencade, If I remember correctly only the SE came with the running lights so I don't know if the after market ones would work as running or cornering lights.

I take it you checked to see if they were plugged in. You can check the plug on the bike with a volt meter to see it it is getting power

The question I still need answered is if I don't have any power at the light sockets, is it most likely that both relays are bad?.
