Air Compressor Dead

Postby revtmuller1 » Fri Apr 29, 2016 4:02 pm

Hi All
I'm having problems with the air compressor on my '99 SE. It quit working recently and I can figure out why. Help! The fuse and relay are good, I can see the pressure reading on the LCD screen and the LCD screen functions normally and properly as far as I can determine clock works and radio reads out fine. Just wondering if "dirty" desiccant beads can cause it to not function?? I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

There are filters built into the compressor that filter the air long before it reaches the dessicant beads, so the beads shouldn't be dirty - and even if they were, it wouldn't stop the compressor from working. Do you get voltage at the compressor when you try to actuate it?

Thanks for that WingAdmin. Yeah, I was wondering if the bead getting moisture laden might make it quit. I haven't checked the voltage at the compressor mainly because I don't know where to find it. Any help there would be great.

Hey WingAdmin, I just found your how-to on renewing the desiccant. I'll get at the compressor using that tutorial. Thanks.

Just wanted to let everyone know that my compressor is alive again. The plug was unhooked under the seat. I decided to go ahead and renew the desiccant via WingAdmin's tutorial. All went well. Thanks again WingAdmin for a great tutorial.
