Plug wires

Post by giturgun » Mon May 02, 2016 7:33 pm

Have 1500 1988 does it have solid core wires or graphite? . When it rains it quits running till. It dries out, I know it is a voltage leak but can t seem to find it. I have sprayed it with a spray bottle and it just quits no leakage that I can see , hear , or feel. I have soaked the coils and it don t quit but if I wet the cylinder head where the caps go in it will miss a time or 2 and just die. Will restart i. A couple of minutes. This is driving me nuts, can not ride it in the rain U never know when it will decide to quit.

Have you sprayed it in the dark, looking for sparking?

Are the plug wells clean of grease and grime?

Have new plugs , silicon water repellant spray to clean everything up. Di electric grease for reassembly. Going to check the ohms on the plug wires as shell

Primary side shows 3. 3.1. 3.1. Ohms. Secondary. ( high ) is showing open. Was running when I started taking it apart. Nowit looks like coils and new wires / boots are in order.

:D Found the coils at. http://www.regulatorrectifier.com/catal ... ition-Coil. For 70 00 each they supposed to be OEM. Anyone ever deal with this company before. I don t want smething that will not be an exact fit, been there and done that and I will pay extra for some that fit right. Since no one makes OEM wires and boots what is my options on good plug wires and boots. I wanna ride not push it.

That ducati add makes me wanna just sell my gw and get a new bike , the urge is strong in this one. Yes. Hondas CTX 1300 is lookin better every day. I must resist the urge to look, I will get through this. I need the urge killer running. I can always jump on the wing and the new bike smell goes away, but with my bike in pieces it don t work.
