Self cancelling blinkers 94 GL1500A

Postby tcryder » Sun May 08, 2016 5:56 pm

I hate my blinkers on my trike. I take left turns on busy highways and need to turn blinkers on in advance. I have to continue to turn the blinkers many times. How can I change this to stay on until my turn is completed?

One of the easiest ways is to change all your turn signal bulbs to LEDs. :) This has the unintended consequence of making the turn signalling canceller stop working.

Otherwise, go to the turn signal canceller unit connector:

You'll see how to access it on this page:

Cut the white/black (white wire with black stripe) wire. This sends the wheel speed signal to the turn canceller. Without it, it will think you are sitting at a stop, and will leave the signal flashing.

You might want to put a switch in place instead of just cutting it, so that you (or a future owner) can re-enable it if you want.

I think the system is set to flash for 8 to 12 seconds, or something like that. On my commute and I need my signal on longer I just re-hit the turn signal again and again if needed. Than in the time a lotted on the signed the flash shuts off.
It's not what you buy, it's what you build.
