Paint Source

Post by Charlie1Horse » Sun May 08, 2016 7:45 pm

I recently found a left inner fairing (tank shelter) to replace the one on my 92 Interstate that has bad cracks around the CB and vent. The part I found is from a SE so it is a two tone paint scheme. The base color is the correct one for my bike. It is Candy Spectre Red, code R 176 C. Can automotive paint stores mix the correct color for this application? If not where can I get the proper paint so I can replace this part. I really like keeping everything original and in proper condition. Thanks for any suggestions.

Those who say it cannot be done should try not to interrupt those who are doing it.

A good auto paint store could probably mix it up for you.
Another option is ColorRite here.
They also indicate that a base coat is required.

Colorrite is a great option, but also, my local paint supply house has a camera that takes a "picture" of the color ( pick a good, clean spot) and gives them all the parts they need to mix up your color and it will also give them a OEM match , if there is one.
My bike, a 96 Aspencade in Pearl Blue, matches a Honda CAR color called metalic majestic blue or something like that (I have the report around here somewhere for future use) which makes it even easier to get touch up paint from like DupliColor .
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines.
