Smog - De-Smog ???

Postby PedroTQ » Tue May 10, 2016 3:40 pm

G'day to Everyone,

Firstly I would like to say that I was tickled pink to see one of my photos in this months news letter :D :D :D

as you probably know I just acquired a new to me 98 Valkyrie, stripped her down and lubing everything that twists and turns.

I have been pawing through the VRCC forum and it seems that many Valkyrie riders de-smog their machines.

I am just wondering if anyone has de-smoged their Goldwing 1500? and if so has it improved anything or made things worse?

I may try it myself on the next strip-down which I will do every couple of years or so.

By the way I finally acquired the correct colour (Phantom Grey) saddlebag for my 88, at the moment is looks like a $#!?bike, like them cars you see with doors, bonnet, boot all in different colours

I de smogged my 92 motortrike. I have de smogged many Valkyries and it is a little more intense doing a goldwing, but doable.

Thanks for the replies guys,

To "De-Smog" your 1500 engine is to remove the tangle of vacuum lines under the carbs. I took another photo of my 15 with the un-matching saddlebags in the carport as the sun bleaches out the colours in photos.

I was blown away by the incredible effort that "redeye.tech" has put into his Valkyrie carbie overhaul kits, I have never before seen one like this.

I also found a couple of photos of my old Z1300 with a DJP sidecar, I bought her new in 1986.

Happy and Safe riding to All
Peter.

G'day to All,

All the required gaskets and "O" rings have turned up so I can assemble my Valky.

I have fitted an aftermarket heat shield, much easier than that floppy sheet that I had to battle with on the GoldWing, might try it on her next time she goes down for a major birthday.
