Interested in a 1500 with clutch issues

Postby zeusmann » Wed May 11, 2016 10:47 am

I know of a 93 1500 aspencade that is for sale that the owner says had a clutch issue. The bike is a few hours away so I don't have easy access. The owner says theres a rod on the slave cylinder that broke or came loose and has pushed into the motor. He has a cover off at the moment and said all the fluid is out of it. He says the motor needs pulled to make the repair. Can anyone tell me what may have happend and if the fix would require the engine to be pulled or a large amount of work? I am hopeing it may be something I can take care of myself. I have a gl1100 that I have done a lot of work to but the 1500s are new to me.

Can purchase a complete engine on ebay for less than repairs will cost.

If the bike has been run for any amount of time with the clutch fluid in the crankcase, you are better off just replacing the engine - the main crankshaft bearings will likely be history.
