Newbie Help w/ intercom

Postby doncarson49 » Mon Jun 06, 2016 9:42 pm

Hi all.
Just bought a 92 1500 Interstate with 10k miles! yup just 10K. it still has the original tires (that I have to change due to dry rot).
Here's my Q.
It has a comm connector for the front(driver) and a IC volume control, but I can't find the rear connecting plug??? I'm stumped!. Any help is appreciated

The passenger connector should be in a little holder at the bottom of the left cubbie. If there isn't one then you have to purchase the cable separately. The connector for it will be below the left rear corner of the seat. It is a red connector with 5 wires in it. It will just plug in and you are set to go.

If it still has the original tires, then you can pretty much bet that it still has the original timing belts, as well. And if it sat around a lot (which it will have, having only 10,000 miles) the belts are going to be in sorry shape. That should be absolute #1 on the top of your list of things to do before riding it. A failed timing belt can crater your engine.

You can look here,http://goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=9774 and find how to do it. You can look here http://goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=6742 and get a cross reference for the belts. Most auto parts stores have the belts or can get them. Rock Auto has them also, http://www.rockauto.com/en/partsearch/?partnum=T275

I just went to Rock Auto site and used their search engine. I put in Gates T275 and it came up. They were around $13 a piece, you need 2 of them. Sorry the link doesn't work, not computer smart enough to figure it out.

That should be the belts for yours. The 1500's all use the same belt. Glad to help out some in return for what I've learned on the site.

I got mine at Amazon. They were Gates T275 belts and about the cheapest place I found them.
