Hazard lights only work on the right side

Post by ikutuof » Sat Jul 02, 2016 3:40 pm

When I activate the hazards switch/button on the handlebar only the right sides Front and rear flash, the left side front and rear do not flash at all. I have checked the fuses on the left side under the seat and the fuses are all good. Any thoughts on how to fix this problem.

Thanks in advance,

First, welcome to the forum.
Below is the page from the Honda Service Manual on the hazard relay.

It probably has something to do with your switch, so check the wires (in this case the green one) to make sure that they are seated well.
If so, pull the relay and check continuity from the switch to the relay to see if you have a short or break somewhere along the way.

It's never too late to have a happy childhood!

Try cleaning the switch contacts with a good electronics cleaner. Does your left side turn signal work properly? The right and left sides have different circuits through the switch so a good cleaning will probably fix it.

Those who say it cannot be done should try not to interrupt those who are doing it.

There is only one thing in the entire circuit on the GL1500 that can cause this to happen, and it is the hazard switch contacts. When they get dirty, this is a very common symptom. Pull the switch, clean the contacts, put it back and it should be fixed.
