Sluggish 1990 1500

Postby tileguy » Thu Jul 28, 2016 5:28 am

I have a 90 se that a friend & I reworked after setting for way to long. A little back story, we have rebuilt, forks, carbs, brakes, master cylinders & a few other things. After putting about 4 thousand miles of riding my problem happened. The bike starts and idles fine but on take off I have really poor response , having to feather the bike to move. I have been checking vac lines, fuel pump, the carbs have been rebuilt . Looking for a direction to investigate were my problem may be..
Thanks.

Sure sounds like carb issue..hole in diaphragm?? so slides not responding?? float stuck and then pops loose from vibration?? on take off; how does it run once up to speed does it make a difference if it's hot or cold?? choke issues??
HAD LOTS OF GOLDWING 75-83
NOW INTO 1500'S..RIDING A 1998 SE

FAIR WINDS,

Yup.all that.
Pull the top shelter and air cleaner so you can see the carbs.Start the bike and rap the throttle.Watch both slides operate and fuel flow down the throats.Do look at the filter for obstructions.
Just one slide sticking will dog the engine.
Watch the accelerator pump operation too.

When rebuilding the carbs did you rebuild the accelerator pump also? Might want to check if it is working properly.
