My buddy has put reverse out of his 1992 Goldwing--We have sourced a few used motors . Is one year better than the others ? Is there a year he should stay away from ?

First, welcome to the forum.
Try to get a motor/transmission from a '97-'00.
Starting in '97, Honda used the Valkyrie transmission that doesn't have anywhere near the issues of the earlier models.

Terry, understand about being here for a while. I was just looking at the number of posts, not that you had joined 09/15.
There are lots of motors available out there. Suggest trying to find one locally to avoid shipping charges, but eBay has a lot with low miles that would be better.

One last question All GL1500 motors are interchangeable with no problems correct ? --(The Valkyrie motors 1500C do not have a reverse and are the exception . I had a Valkyrie an Old women with a van full of grandchildren took it away from me She ran the van up the back wheel and the bumper hit the luggage rack The big bike saved me serious injury )

There are 1500 Interstate models that don't have a reverse as well.
Other than that, they are interchangeable.

we found a 1500 motor from a 2000 wing ,it has 140,000 KM a little more than we wanted . I think these motors should be good for 300,000 KM if maintained The guy threw in the exhaust manifolds which he said were a little different on the 92 And is going to deliver all for a good price
Again thanks for the direction and help
