After market manual

Postby Buffaloprofessor » Sat Aug 20, 2016 9:38 pm

Good evening all. I am a relatively new GW owner and have some lighting issues. I want to purchase an aftermarket maintenance manual for my 1996 GL1500 SE. Any suggestions as to which one will be worth the money?

I would suggest the Honda manual, the clymers is ok but has a few things wrong. I have the Honda tech manual for my 96 aspy and it has very good pics and also more info. Just my 2 cents---------------------------Hal

If you are having lighting or electrical issues, I highly recommend the Honda Service manual over all the others.

I have both the Honda and Clymer manuals.
When you buy the Honda manual, you get a binder. With the Clymer, it's paperback.
I was lucky enough to find the Honda one for my '96, so it fits well. All the others may have one or two things off that changed over the years.
With the Clymer, you buy a manual that covers '93-'00, so there are more things that don't match your particular bike.

Go to Helminc.com and get a proper Honda manual. It will pay for itself and it leads your through just the maintenance you bike needs.

Currently the '96 manual on Helm is out of stock.
I found mine through Craigslist, but you can also look through Amazon & eBay.
Sometimes they become available on the forums as well.

Thank you all for the input. Got frustrated with my bike last night and decided to check the relay that everyone talks about and lo and behold, that was the issue. Now I just have 2 burned out bulbs to contend with.
