94 GL1500 helmet locks under trunk.

Postby tcryder » Mon Aug 22, 2016 7:12 am

I don't know how to get my helmet locks in the open position on the Wing. Does it take a special key or use the trunk key? I know this seems like a dumb question but I was told when I was young that the only dumb question was the one never asked. I turn my key to left nothing, they stayed locked. Thanks for your help. tcryder

Open the trunk up and there is a knob for each of them on the inside of the trunk. They don't work by the key.

In your trunk, near the opening you'll see a knob on each side of the opening at the front.
Turn the knob handle to open the lock.

That's only if they haven't come apart and fallen off.

I don't have any knobs like that on my 94 GL1500A.

You will need to get two each of the parts below.

Take the time to glue the rod into the knob before you snap the knob into place.
It will keep you from losing them again.

I went out to the garage to look again! The knobs and the shaft that fits in lock is missing. I'm going to try open with screw driver. I never even noticed the holes above the helmet locks before! Thank you for the reply. tcryder
