Reverse problem

Post by kmiller0813 » Wed Aug 24, 2016 2:21 pm

I have a 1992 gl1500a. When I put it in reverse, back it up, then take it out of reverse, the neutral light will not come on. If I drive it a few hundred feet, then the neutral light will come on. If I stop the bike when it will not go into neutral, it will not start, even by holding in the clutch. This only happens when I use reverse. Any ideas what this could be? Possibly reverse sensor?

Your reverse lever switch is the likely problem with the switch plunger sticking and not popping back out when the lever is lowered.

Reverse lever switch. Had to change mine out earlier this year. There are 2 switches. One on the right and one on the left. I switched out both. They're not that expensive. ;)
