lcd question

Postby kane67 » Sun Sep 25, 2016 11:58 am

My lcd has this half moon, last year when I bought the wing it's lower part clock/kPA screen worked nice.
But now you can see slightly kPA on screen while there's clock but clock doesn't show up perfectly.
Some number "block" is missing, sometimes it shows up perfect and kPA is not visible.
Bad contact maybe somewhere...

It is the outer board for clock and pressure, right? Upper part works perfect (radio).
I took it off for testing, need to see if moving flat cables or something makes difference. Last winter I have cleaned and sprayed lacquer on both boards.

Maybe going through all connections with soldering iron?

If your LCD has the half moon, it's done. There is no fixing it, the only option is to live with it (it will usually get worse) or replace the whole thing - and they are expensive!

You can read more about it here: viewtopic.php?t=27532

Yes, the half moon has been there but despite that, other visible part of screen (except half moon area) radio /clock /pressure was seen nice and clear. Radio (upper part) is still good.

Lower section (clock/pressure) not good, sometimes after longer drive yes but mostly I see light kPa text with clock at the same time, but clock numbers does not show up as complete numbers.
Hours missing, coming back, part of number visible etc etc back and forth...

So I believe it's something I did because last summer it was ok... :?
At least I try to make functioning better.

What is best way to clean sprayed lacquer off?

+1 whisker's post..it's an issue with the laments delaminating in the scree due to water/air/sun,etc. you moving it around could have started it but not spraying the board.
