1995 GL1500 Panasonic AM/FM Cassette

Postby Coop » Wed Sep 01, 2010 1:23 pm

We have 2 GL1500 (1992&1995) and the sound system on the 1995 is starting to fade sometimes. All the speakers on both wings have been replaced with the speakers that were made for them. The connections have been checked and no problems found. Trying to find a service center that will work on the radio, cassette but everyone inquired with gets that deer caught in the headlights look on their face. I am located in the Houston, TX area, if anyone knows of a someone that does work on them I would appreciate the information. My knowledge about working on radios is :? to leave them alone.

I don't know if Sierra Electronics does work on GL1500's as well, but if they don't, I'm pretty sure they would know who does.

I have been referred to SIERRA ELECTRONICS for my 1990 GL1500, but before I remove my radio I am exploring all options for my issue - - cassette stuck in but all other features work.

I was told a ( relay ) but need location of relay and part number

Hi MGMAN,
You could try downloading the free manual on the panasonic radio from the manuals section. This will help you locate the relay.

good luck,

The Panasonic RM-1500 radio started to malfunction just before I took off for my 5,000 mile trip last August, and the prospect of not having a music during that trip really put a damper on my excitement lolll Not being able to find the problem, I just pulled it right out, and installed a high-quality AM/FM/CD unit in the hole...depite the fact that I was loosing a few features from the RM-1500 (AVL, Intercom, CB...all things I did not really need), it fit beautifully in the hole (of course, with a nice brace system so as to allow to hide it with the plastic cover on when the bike sleeps)...so I upgraded further with high-quality 4" speakers front and back, a Pyramid 300watts eq/amp in the trunk, and to get some real good bass I installed two 5" subwoofers in the back panel (just below the passenger backrest)...I'm soooo satisfied with that awesome sound that I,ll never ever ever go back to any integrated radio...I highly recommend it to everyone...if you appreciate nice, rich, loud sound!
