Crank, no start, no spark

Post by Bill Clift » Mon Mar 20, 2017 7:13 pm

Alright, I'm working on a 94 Goldwing Interstate.
Started and ran fine. No low beam headlights. Bulbs, fuses good. High beam is ok.

Now, I wiggled around all the relays, I have low beam lights, but, no spark. Cranks, no start. Swapped around a couple relays, no change. Any ideas? ?

Check the connections on the kill switch. Years and many miles of vibration can cause these screws to loosen and then you won't have power for ignition and fuel. I check mine every year due to the fact that it quit on me once and had to tow home. If I had thought of this I could have continued on the group ride I was on at the time. Remove the two screws under the right switch assembly and lift the assembly off the handlebar to check these connectors. It only takes a few minutes to check.

Those who say it cannot be done should try not to interrupt those who are doing it.

I have read many posts regarding the connections behind the relay box going bad.??? Also all gl1500s have a problem with producing no spark if the battery is the least bit low on voltage. It takes a certain amount of voltage to get the CPU to activate. Make sure your battery is good and has a full charge.
