OEM Windshield thickness

Postby hossross » Mon Mar 20, 2017 8:33 pm

I have a windshield that is .178 inches thick and it won't slide up or down.
The bike is a 2000 SE, I'm 3rd owner so I assume it has an aftermarket windshield. I think I will need to make spacers but don't know how thick to make them without knowing the stock windshield thickness. If someone knows or could measure an OEM I would appreciate it. If someone has already solved the problem what was your fix? If I loosen the 3 center screws 1/2 turn, it will slide with reasonable effort.

The stock windshield is .117
I made new bolt spacers allowing for the difference in the thickness of shields.
It's not what you buy, it's what you build.

I just put a washer under each of the mounting bolt heads and it works fine.

Thanks that's where I'm headed, I wanted to keep as much friction on the rubber pad as was originally designed
