Plus
Do you know how long the old oil was in,
What viscosity did you use (10W30, 5W20?)
Did you add any motor flush before you drained the old oil?
What condition was the old oil? (sludge, dark colored)
Does the noise go away after warm-up?

where is the noise coming from..use a stethoscope or dowel to pin point..could be lots of things, lifters, exhaust leak, valve chatter,

You can try a heavier oil but that won't tell you what is making the noise or fix it. Over time the heavier oil might do more harm!

What does the owners manual recommend for engine oil? That should give you the correct weight and lay out the specs that the oil must meet.

Again , the question is what weight oil did you use? Was it a motorcycle specific oil or just something off the shelf at a parts store? Oil for cars does not usually meet the requirements of motorcycles. Did you use synthetic or regular dino oil. I suspect Honda recommends its GN4 oil which does work well. You can usually find it online cheaper than at your local dealer. (perhaps even Amazon)

mine did the same thing. I picked up a 1998 gl1500 this spring and have been going over the whole bike front to back. I changed oil and added a 10w40 synthetic blend and the ticking started. I added a oil treatment to the oil and in a week or 2 am going to change oil again and now will use the recomended honda oil.

some years ago I decided to try synthetic oil in my 1200 wing and my 1500 wing. I used amsoil 10w 40 in the 1200 and mobile one in the 1500, both were motorcycle oil and both wings had the noisiest lifters I've ever heard on a wing. I lived with the noise until the next oil change then switched back to Castrol t4 10w 40, no more lifter noise

Yes oil and filters were purchased from motorcycle store , for goldwing bike, will have to take it to shop this week to find out what is going on , dont want to ride it until I know what it is ,
