GL1500 Headlights operated by Oil Pressure Light

Post by Erdeniz Umman » Sat Aug 05, 2017 7:50 am

Although I had shared this solution before in this forum, I wanted to start a new thread on this subject to make it more visible and findable for those interested in.

The modification will be based on the oil pressure light signal, and it will have a safety feature to keep the headlights ON in case of an engine failure in the middle of the dark.

With this modification, you will not need an extra switch to control the headlights, they will come on as soon as the engine starts running. So you will not waste the important voltage in your battery before starting.

Once the headlights come on, they can only be turned off by turning the ignition key to OFF position.

And also, you will not violate the laws in your country which require the headlights to be ON when riding.

For this modification you will need;
1 Normally Open 20A relay
1 Normally Closed 20A relay
and 2 diodes (IN4001 or IN4007).

The circuit diagram and the connectors (C22 and C57) you will need to reach over the right fan are given below.

Good, thank you. How are the EuroSpec bikes wired with a headlight ON-OFF switch on the left handlebar? A picture perhaps or part number for that switch housing with the related wiring diagram.
This is what I do
Local and need repair help with your 1500, Valkyrie or ST please PM

Ok, here are what I have in my library.
Also, the headlight contacts in the start/reverse button are canceled and don't have any function to turn off the headlights when pushing the start button.
