Drivers Backrest

Post by devildog88 » Wed Aug 09, 2017 5:18 pm

I was just given a real nice condition Markel Drivers Backrest. The bad part is they did not have the mounts for it any more. Does anyone know of where to get any or have any they would part with?

Thanks again!

You can try ebay or maybe someone on the forums has them for sale. I'm guessing you have a Markland?

Yes it is a Markland, I knew that and didnt pay attention to my typing. Been looking on ebay, but all I can find is the whole seat with brackets.

Wow I sold my whole backrest that was in very good condition for $60.00. I sold to low or those arms are overpriced. Oh and that is what I paid for it. I didn't like the way it hit my ba k and my wife didn't like the bars hitting her legs.

Since I can buy complete used backrests and some new for 130 - 150 dollar range, I think I will go that route, 80+ dollars just for the brackets which may need new clamp nuts and will have to get new hardware to mount the brackets possibly. I think it would be better to just buy something complete. Those brackets look half way decent but price just too close to a new or a used complete setup.

NOS marklands pop up occasionally. Was able to buy one for $150 if I recall right. Drag Specialties makes a nice windleader backrest too. I guess my bike had one and it got lost by a dealer or previous owner somewhere along the lines. I have the brackets but no backrest for it. Utopia makes a really nice thru the seat backrest if that sounds appealing to you. People say its the best if you dont mind cutting a hole thru the seat.

I had a through the seat backrest on my 1200 and I liked it a lot. I have been thinking about getting on for 1500. The only thing holding me back is my seat is getting a little worn so I might change the whole seat with one built in.
