GOLDWING SE STRIPES

Post by baker1931 » Mon Oct 30, 2017 6:27 pm

I have a 1998 Honda Goldwing SE and had to have the left gas tank shelter repaired. It had a decal on that part. I have searched everywhere----n/a. Has anybody run into this before---and what did you do ????

1. You could try to find a used shelter.
2. You could go to a sticker shop to print the decal, thanks to the computer and the printer technology they can print any color or shape of decals. Try to find a shop that prepares semi transparent stickers stuck on the windows of the shops or cars.

There are special paints which can be covered with the clear coat, ask or try that before applying on the bike.

You can simply ask for small rectangular pieces in different tones to find the exact color match, and then after clear coat test if you are happy with the result, you can ask for the final shape of the decal that you desire.

For the shape of the decal you can use the decal on the other side of the bike and after preparing a template of it on a transparent sheet, you can simply use the back side to get a mirror image of it.

Try RonAyers.com - here's a link to some of their OEM side cover decals. They're not cheap - around $50 - but they do seem to be available.

I had a similar problem on my 1200. The pinstripes were getting really bad looking. I went to our local auto paint place and the mixed me a 1/2 pint that was a near perfect match. I used double pin stripping masking tape and carefully "painted" the stripes back on. It actually looked better than the original.
