Shorty windshield

Put this on it today.

Just trying it out but I don't really like it so far. Good part is I got to take the front apart and found a bunch of issues. All sorted now. This windshield will not adjust by releasing the latches it does adjust but you have the take the nose off to do it.

Anyone run a windshield like this? I wanted to get some more air but it get too much buffeting. Maybe that is riding but the tall windshield is more comfortable. I'd love to get some more air to my chest though. The dash vents emit air but have no affect even at highway speed.

Replace with a standard windshield and put a vent in it. They work pretty good. And try some wind wings as well. There are several different styles. One might do what you need.

have the original shield with the vent that's what I took off. In a t-shirt in 80 degree weather it's fine but with a riding jacket on not so much. Have to look into the wind wings, or are they Wing wings

put the stock windshield back on tonight.

Took the headlight out to look at the adjuster. Found several more broken pieces under the headlight. Someone took things apart under the nose and really ham fisted putting it back together. I realized after I put it all back that the windshield "latch" lever on the left side is out of time. Not surprising since the right side was totally disengaged.

If you adjust your windwhield so the top is about level with the bridge of your nose you should be able to find a sweet spot where your dont get helmet buffet but you can look over the windshield but also be able to tuck your head just slightly and look thru the windshield when need be. Sometimes on hot days I'll pop my head up just a little to get some air in my face. For me the windshield vent is awesome the way you can crack it just a little to get rid of wind buffetting or to defog your windshield on cold mornings. And it can guide air up to your helmet chin vent when the weather gets warmer or open it up to blow air on your chest.

Your in a hot zone so there isn't a great answer to the heat. Hot air blowing on your chest is just gonna make you hot. What a lot of riders do (and I haven't yet) is get one of those jackets with vents (not totally vented like like a mesh jacket) and wet a tshirt and wear that underneath. Its wicking effect provides some cooling and is supposed to help but I think everybody has there own heat tolerance. They also make those vests with ice packs that some people really like.

I put a split windshield on my bike 2 years ago, and have to admit I really like it. Granted, to get affect of a short shield, I have to unscrew the top portion, but I do like it. Also, not very expensive, easy to install (look at my avatar for it). Of course, I picked it up at Cyclemax, lol.....hate that place (this is a good thing), too many new things for the bike, they are definitely a weakness for me.

rode my Goldwings to work and back nearly everyday.

in the summer time, I would walk into the shower and wet my T-Shirt before going home in the evenings.
95* at daybreak is not bad if the sun is not shining.... 115* in full sun is not enjoyable at all...

I always wear ATGATT, but the Mesh variety....
even so, the 25 minute ride home on Loop 202 would find me sweating with a very dry T-shirt.

Love my Phase Change cooling vest. It keeps me cool and comfortable, wearing full ATGATT, in the hottest weather. I have one that goes around my neck as well that I wear in the summer cutting the lawn as well.

That vest looks like the ticket for hot weather. I see there are a bunch of competing brands out now but for around $175 that would be a lifesaver hot rides. Not sure that is ever me:)

I fixed the windshield lock levers and a few other things while i was at it. The factory windshield in the full down is just about at eye line. I go back and forth looking through or over it. This looks to be the highest I'd want it. Went for an early ride on Saturday. 25 miles of city street at 42F out. forgot to open the "heat" vents and it was not a bad ride. Of course I had a hoodie, the jacket liner in my riding jacket.

after that accident, I lost the ability to deal with hot weather.
I also bought a Phase Change cooling vest, it has been worth every penny.
Made a carrier for the bike's trailer hitch, and it will hold my ice chest and keep the phase change baggies nice and cold.... when I start getting hot, pull that vest out and put it on, still dripping water...
oh yeah, is that ever a shock to the system..... cold water on your skin, but it cools me off "right now" an saves the day.

This company pioneered the concept, I paid a bit of a premium as when I bought mine, they were the only ticket in town.

assuming you are using a PC and can keep multiple tabs open,
just do a search for the part number, or make/model and leave each tab open.
then just compare the tabs and eliminate the ones that have a higher price.

I cut mine off at the bottom hole where a previous owner had side deflectors and the screen had split. I used a car boot edge rubber to tidy it up as in the photos. I like the size and don't find the wind a problem.

I cut the original Honda windshield down and it's perfect for me.
No buffeting or turbulence that I notice.
I'm 5' 8" and this is even with my nose.
I can still raise it up in rain or cold weather.

I installed a shorty by Klock Werks. Best winshield I've ever had on my GL1800. No shakes and no wind buffering at all.

For what it's worth, the best way for me to cool off while riding is by using the adjustable hand and lower Air Wings that I bought from Cycle Giant. I open the hand and 1st of the lowers which gives lots of air directed at me to cool off. Cooler to cold weather and they stay closed which reduces the air hitting me considerably.

I have been giving that https://madstad.com. windshield a lot of thought.

we bought a Toy Hauler last July and my current Optic Armor windshield is two inches two high.

so, either I cut it off permanently, or I replace it with https://madstad.com.

I am torn as what to do about it.
got a few months to stew on it, not going anywhere until the weather warms up.

I LOVE my Wind Bender windshield, run it in the lowest position all summer, maybe up a notch for fall and up to the top for cold winter riding.... best windshield I have ever had.
