Dual Rear Air Shock???

Post by devildog88 » Sun Dec 03, 2017 11:23 pm

I noticed on my 96 GL1500SE that it only had one air shock and one compressed spring shock. I looked up some parts manuals and it appears this was this way from factory. Has anyone found a better ride by upgrading to (2) two air shocks?

Thanks in advance for all the input.

What problem with the ride are you trying to correct? I find the stock suspension to be quite comfortable. Maybe you have some defective components on yours. Quite a few folks have installed Progressive rear shocks on the 1500 and report they do very well. They are kind of pricey though.

The reason only one gas a spring is if u loose air pressure it wont bottom the suspension out

I was shocked seeing only one air shock. On my 1200 I had just upgraded to Progresseive 416 shocks before I found my 1500. I noticed quite a different ride when I installed them on the 1200. Wasn't sure if there is a noticeable difference on the 1500 using progressive air shocks or not. It is actually a pretty smooth ride even riding 2 up, my wife and i add about 400 lbs to the bike and it still rides ok. Wasnt sure if with 2up I would find a smoother ride.

Thanks for the input and advice.
