Odd question

Post by snb290 » Wed Jan 03, 2018 10:42 am

I have a 96 GL 1500, that has been converted to a trike, before I got it a few weeks ago.
My question is, How do I tell if it is an Interstate, Aspencade, or anything else??????

Also, does anyone have a part number for the timing belt tensioners?? And are they left and right, or both the same?

Thanks for any help you can give me. I know,,,, I'm hopeless.

Happy Trails,
Steven

I tried to click on your avatar to get a better view of the paint scheme, but that didn't work.

the SE bikes usually have a multi-color paint scheme, my '94SE was a maroon type red with darker offset colored "panels" on the tank and saddle bags.... to me, it was gorgeous looking.

I have thousands of bookmarks and I can't find a single one that refers to ascertaining how you determine the difference.

Interstate models did not have reverse, so if you have reverse that it narrows it to SE or Aspencade.
Most Aspencades did not come with CB or cornering lights, though mine does have CB, so If you have CB and cornering lights, probably an SE.
Some SE's were mono chrome color , I have two friends who have them, one is red and one white.

Thanks so much. Mine does have a reverse and cornering lights and CB. Mine has a two tone paint job. It could be an after market repaint, I suppose.
I hate being so ignorant about it. I've been riding since age 13, and this is the first bike I've had that I know so little about.

not always true on the cornering lights and CB. I have an 89 aspincade that has both. SE's have foot warmers too. (looks like a second headlight adjustment knob)

The paint scheme says it is an SE. The adjustable passenger foot rests are an SE only option so that makes it an SE as well.

Thank you all for clearing up this for me. It does have the adjustable rear foot boards.
Knowing what I have makes it a lot easier for me to talk to others about the bike.

Everything you have on your bike shows that it is an SE
The SE came with a CB so the CB controls on the SE are different from the added CB control that you get when you add a CB to the Aspencade. The SE CB controller has a knob on the fader knob on the side for the radio front/back speakers.

Thank you every one. You have been a great help, with both of my questions.
Looking forward to warmer weather.
