Where do you see a red battery indication?

um, why?
First you need to be sure the battery is not at fault.
Use a voltmeter to determine what the Terminal Battery Voltage is, it must be an absolute minimum of 10.5 volts for the ECU to fire the spark plugs.
11 volts is better....

An AGM battery will nearly always fix hard starting problems, unless wiring is at fault.

95% or more of GL1500 starting problems always come back to a bad battery,
the remainder have bad wiring issues, corrosion, and a very few actually have bad relays.

I'm surprised you were able to charge that battery. I did the same thing to mine, and the battery was completely incapable of accepting a charge. It was DEAD. The same exact situation and results occurred to my son-in-law's VTX1800. Those batteries don't generally recover from a complete discharge to 0V.
The charger seemed to indicate the batteries were charged, but that was not the case. So, I do sort of question your conclusion that your battery is actually charged. How have you determined that the battery is charged ? I am unfamiliar with the "red battery indicator" you reference. The only method I am aware of is to use a VOM to measure the actual voltage, at the battery terminals, both 'unloaded' and 'loaded'. Meaning, with nothing turned on (unloaded), and then while trying to start the bike (fully loaded). Then you know the condition of your battery. Even if it shows voltage at rest, it is entirely possible it will show no voltage, too little voltage, or just plain dead under a load.

I ran mine down like that before, charged it over night, hooked it up and nadda, even though when on the charger it showed 12.8 or so volts. . . . Once a battery is drained “dead” it rarely if ever can be recharged.

i took the top off of the battery and filled it with distilled water then slow charged it. tested good with a battery tester. but i replaced it with a (NAPA) gell battery anyway. cleaned fuse main b (55a) shows no voltage drop from battery voltage 12.34 ordered a starter relay. now still nothing when i turn the key on. so i'm at a stand still till the stater relay is replaced. thanks for the info.

You need to check the main fuse A (30 amp). The 55 amp fuse is from the alternator to the battery. It will run with that fuse out. The 30 amp fuse is in front of the battery around the solenoid.

I agree on the 30A fuse. The voltage goes to the ignition key from the 30A fuse via a red wire.
Do you know where the fuse is?

No it should be red wire. Are you talking about the 55A dogbone fuse and its wire?
