How to Articles

Post by jimbo73 » Mon Feb 19, 2018 1:18 pm

A big thanks for your how too articles, took the bike apart in January finally got to take it around the block yesterday, I rebuilt my front forks, rebuilt the petcock and put a new universal joint in, plus regular stuff like tires/brakes/bearings. Would never have been able to do without the step by step instructions, I even built my own spring tool, which is a breeze to make and only cost me $16 and some scrap steel from work.

only problem and makes no sense is my corner turning lights don't work now, and I didn't do any electrical stuff, I didn't even take the bulbs out. cant find any blown fuses. any suggestions would be great, thanks

There is always the remote possibility that both bulbs are bad. Can you positively verify that they were working prior to all the maintenance? They do go unnoticed during normal riding, especially in the day time. I would check the bulbs before getting out the meter to check connections.

Do you have a schematic? On page 9-3 of my Electrical Troubleshooting manual I have this schematic:

As you can see, there is only one common feed to the two light relay terminals. That is from fuse #8, Tail/Position/Meter Fuse through the trouble prone #3 Tail (Main) Relay.

I was pretty sure the original poster knew that and that is why he called them corner turning lights.

I do not know which year they went to always on but I think it was 1998. The diagram I posted earlier was for a 1998. My apologies. I should have posted this one which is for a 1993. I think it is the same as a 1990.

I'll check the diagram this weekend, I know it's not the fuse checked them all and everything else works, cornering lights don't come on with blinkers. Previous owner put a switch to have them on all the time that doesn't work either. Looked at both bulbs they look good but didn't test them.

Thanks

That is where you need to start looking for the problem. Something is likely wrong with where he worked on those lights.

I finally got to look at the lights today, I've been neck deep in the Vette and couldn't get to it. It was the switch the previous owner installed, works as it should now! Thanks for the help 😀
