Post by Jonesey » Sat Mar 31, 2018 3:59 pm

Just bought a 1995 GL1500 end of fall and just now getting it out and have an electrical issue. The radio/CB randomly comes on while I’m driving??? I have the volume turned all the way down / in the off position but it’s still blaring randomly. Can anyone help?

Which is coming on randomly? The radio? Or the CB?

The CB radio seems to be the only thing coming on. Hard to tell because sometimes it’s just static noise

Sounds like the CB is on, and the squelch is adjusted so that when there is enough signal, it breaks the squelch and allows the noise through. Turn the squelch on the CB up, and it shouldn't happen anymore. Or...just turn the CB off!

Press the left (volume) control knob in to turn it off.

Thanks for your suggestions. The volume button doesn’t push in, it only turns and I have it turned completely off (if the switch is working. Same with the CB, turned completely off. I also tried the push button that switches from speaker to headset.

Since it’s random, I don’t know if that solved the problem or not. I’ll have to wait until it warms up in a few days (hopefully) and take it out again.

I’ll let you know! Again, thanks!

Yours may be different from mine but my 92 Interstate has the non-cassette radio and when the radio is off you press the volume button to set the clock on the face of the radio. Otherwise it turns all the way to the left to turn off. But, if your CB radio is on the volume button should press in to turn on and off. The squelch button presses in to change from speakers to headset. If the display on the CB shows the channel it is set on the volume button should press in to turn off in which case your squelch won't sound like static at times. But, even if the CB is on and the squelch is turned all the way down it shouldn't sound off then either.

As far as the following statement, I don't know where it actually originated but, I borrowed it from a friend that uses it all the time.
