Hello I'm new to Goldwingdocs, I will be looking for my first Goldwing
Soon. What ever I buy will be used and in the 9 to 10 grand price range.
I'm looking for some insight on which goldwing to buy, the 1500 or 1800
As I stated any insight would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. If you have $10 grand to spend I say go with the 1800. You should be able to get a "relatively" new one for that. 2005/2008. The 1500 is a great bike but she is getting gray and long in the tooth. Good luck!

Ditto what Dingdong said. The 1500 is a little bigger, heavier, has a little more storage space and in my opinion is more comfortable, especially for long legged folks. However, the newest 1500 is well over 10 years old and some parts are getting harder to find and/or cost prohibitive. If you don't do the majority of your own maintenance and troubleshooting, the 1500 is probably not the better choice of the two for you. If you are a gear head/tinkerer and do most of your own stuff, then in my opinion, the 1500 is a little more user friendly. I know several folks with the 1500 and one with an 1800 that all have well over 300,000 miles on them.

You should be able to get a nice 1800 with $10,000, probably an 08 or near that.

My suggestion would be to ride both a 1500 and 1800. There's no point to buying a bike you aren't comfortable on. Many find the 1800 plenty comfortable, but a large contingent find the 1500 more so. I'm in the latter group - I'm very long-legged, and couldn't find a comfortable position on the 1800. On the other hand, to me the 1500 is like a big, soft recliner. With lots of storage space.

Would agree with everybody. But I think that most parts are still available for 1500's. There are very few pieces that I went to buy that were obsoleted. I just ordered both radiator hoses and any related oem rubber bits that hold the rads in place. Boy oem parts are expensive from Honda. :D

Although my wing is 27yrs old now it runs so well. Often I think about new bikes but then I think that mine is perfectly fine and reliable. Thats the beauty of goldwings when they are maintained. I have no doubt I will buy a new/newer bike but more than likely keep my present ride as long as I have room.

I already own a 1500 so my opinion would be biased no matter. But if I had your budget I'd look at 2007-2008 1800 ABS bikes. There are just tons of 1800s out there to choose. Low mile ones too. :D The Chicago area is great for finding a wing too.

For a 1800 SE with reasonable mileage.
