Mount Bad Boy horn on '93 GL1500 ?

Postby thornev » Sat Dec 04, 2010 11:20 pm

Based on the "universal mount" info I had read about the Bad Boy horn, I thought it would fit where the stock horns are. Nope. Not even close. No room behind the lower fairing cover. Anyone mounted a Bad Boy behind the fairing? I know I could mount it attached to the crash bars but eh. Ideas? Thanks.

I don't have the bad boy horns but I do have aftermarket horns and I put then in the cavity inside the right and left side pockets, there is plenty of room in there for just about anything.

Keith - I'm not sure what you mean by "side pockets" because the fairing side pockets are not very spacious at all.

If you take the side pockets out there is room almost to the front of the fairing.

If you take the side pockets out, you lose that storage and I don't know about anyone else but I use the pockets on my bike.

You can take the pocket out, put the horns in and then put the pocket back in, no problem.

I've got a bad boy installed inside the fairing in front of the pocket on the right side. Just removed the pocket and replaced once installation was complete. Took a bit of careful maneuvering to get it in there but it sits nice and tight and sure wakes up the cagers trying to push me into a curb.

Congrats on a great job, I just redid mine in the same place and it works great.

I have one of the Stebel Nauticus horns that I just installed on my 1500, put it behind the left turn signal. Removed the left faring pocket and replaced after install. Works great.
