Brake Reservoir Screw

Postby jqtandberg » Mon Jan 10, 2011 11:42 am

One of the top screws in my front brake reservior cover is stuck. Any tricks for getting this screw out?
As a GoldWing newbie, I really appreciate the knowledge and experience from this forum.

You can use an impact driver. It looks like this:

You put the screwdriver bit in the driver, put it on the screw, and give the top a whack with a hammer. As it moves downward, it twists the screw out, and the downward force of the hammer blow keeps the screw head from stripping out.

I used this exact unit to get the seized screw free that was holding my speedometer drive in place. It broke it free in one shot.

This is a good way but because of WHAT you are working on strike it with care.

Thanks. The impact screwdriver did the trick!
