Change light bulbs

Postby Bandguy » Wed Sep 02, 2009 3:47 pm

I just bought a '92 Aspen (1500) and some of the lights are out. The side reflectors on the trunk seem to be sealed. Can I take those apart at the clips and put new bulbs in? Also, does anyone know how to remove the corner lights on the right and left of the saddle bags? One of those bulbs is also out. I removed the cap nuts from inside and the housing is loose, but I'm afraid I might break something trying to pry it out. Is there a good way to do this?

Thanks

Mike

Mike the side reflectors are just that reflectors, unless someone has upgraded to aftermarket side lights many have, then the lights are removed by taking off 2 nuts on the inside of the trunk per side. The corner lighs its been to long sorry do not remember, I think the back light may have to be removed or a possible screw under the trunk skirt!!!

Thanks Ralph,

I was finally able to reach the corner brake lights. I found that there are
small, removable clips just over an inch long, on the chrome moulding strips.
They were easily removable by popping them off with a small screwdriver.
They snap back into place. Underneath each one is a screw that releases the
lower body part below the tail light. All that was left was to remove the cap
nuts in the saddle bag. I believe you are right about the reflectors. Aftermarket
put on by the previous owner. I may try to take one apart and see what kind of
bulb (LED?) is in there. I may be able to get replacements at an electronic
supplier.

Thanks for your help
