Noisy fork springs 1990 GL1500SE

Post by ALEXB » Mon Feb 14, 2011 4:11 pm

My new-to-me 1990 GL1500SE has noise fork springs... sounds like a old bed, every time I hit a pot hole, but otherwise works fine.
Supposedly this bike has Progressive Springs, but I've not opened it up to verify.

My 2000SE (also with Progressives) makes no such noises... Why the difference?

On a scoot that old, chances are the bushings inside the forks are worn out. There are two in each tube. One at the top and one at the bottom. They are Teflon coated and when the Teflon wears off they can be noisy. Perhaps you are also low on fork oil also. I just finished replacing mine.
