Top Fairing removal?

Postby riverszzr » Thu Mar 17, 2011 9:55 pm

It just looks like it would be a whole lot easier to get to all my crispy hard vacuumn lines with the fairing and those vents out of the way. But the rear bolts underneath the front fairing nose are nuts and the bolt just spins free and is hidden by the air duct-it appears the air duct screws are hidden by more of the fairing crap in the way. Everything plastic, rubber or otherwise is old and brittle (kind of like me) so I don't dare flex anything much to fit a wrench in there.

Oh and like so many, is there a free service manual available, in English-not german. 1989 GL1500

Thanks

I should add, I also need to install fork seals, and am looking at repacking the steering head bearings while in so deep...So it isn't "only" for easier access to the vacuumn lines- but easier access to everything.

Thanks

Here is a manual for a 96 1500 . What your looking for should be the same.

Thank you. I did order the OEM one, as I like paper, but the bike is already strewn across every flat surface I have and then some, so an online version now saves me waiting until next week before I'll see that one.
